Whale Shark Interview – Ballitup

Congrats Ballitup on becoming another of our Whale Sharks, 1000 messages on the Msg Boards!!
Thanks, I’m just glad to be part of this site. It is by far the best place to talk football and it is run very well.

So, tell us a bit about yourself. And what does “ball it up” mean?
I’ve been in Michigan all my life and love everything to do with sports. I follow baseball, football, and basketball, and I’m a U of M guy, none of that State stuff. As for “ball it up”, I came up with it back in high school because I played basketball and baseball and my number was 13, so I just stick with the name everywhere I sign up.

So, what is the “EFL” as indicated in your avatar?
I thought it said FFL when I put it in there, so it was like Fantasy Football and then the crown for king. Then I noticed the E but I just kept it because a lot of people in here notice people by their avatar. So to answer your question it stands for……uhhhhh…….Everyone Follow the Leader????

Ah, I see. So you’re from Detroit. I’m assuming your another Lions fan.
Not exactly from Detroit, I’m on the west side of the state. But I do follow the Lions, sadly. I root for them and the Saints because I also have a lot of family in New Orleans. I know what your thinking, how can I follow both these teams and not go insane!!!

Indeed. Tough season again for Detroit though. What do you think of there season so far?
I think Rogers was a big pickup, until the injury. As for Joey, I just hope he gets better, and I think he will once he gets somewhat of a running game to open up the pass. The defense has been better, and I really like that rookie Boss Bailey.

How about your favorite NFL Player, past and present?
Past wasn’t too long ago, but I gotta say Barry Sanders. The guy was amazing and so fun to watch. I couldn’t wait to see them hand him the ball every Sunday. As for present, I really like the way Deuce McAllister runs the ball. He’s also a low-profile kind of guy, and doesn’t care about the publicity, he just cares about winning. Same with Barry.

And how about a Super Bowl prediction from you.
Uh oh, I’m never good on these, but from the AFC I’m gonna take (or at least root for) the Bengals (don’t hold me to it). Bold prediction, I know, but I love what Marvin Lewis has done for the team and everyone has confidence. As for the NFC, I like the Panthers or the Eagles.

Nice. So how long have you been participating in Fantasy Football?
This is my third year and I love it.

And how many leagues are you involved in?
Only one this year, but I’ve been dissappointed in CNNSI, so I’ll be looking elsewhere next year, plus I’ll be participating in the Guberleague.

And the Team Name. Any meaning behind it?
Cappy’s Powerhouse. A lot of my friends call me Cappy (a play off my last name) and I guess I’m the one who added Powerhouse.

So, are you going to make your FFL playoffs this year?
Nope. Three years in a row. First year I went 3-11. Second I went 8-6, and this year I am 6-7. I think I’m gettin the hang of this though.

Too bad. What about your best and worst pick of the year was?
Best has been Deuce at sixth overall, worst has been Mike Vick or Eric Moulds (4th and 3rd rounds).

Ok, Let’s talk about FantasySharks.com a bit. How did you come to find us?
Google, searched for a place to talk FF.

How about your favorite FantasySharks feature or article?
I like the interviews and I look at the Player Projections most weeks.

Ok. On to the message boards. How’s the community going these days? There’s still a ton of activity.
Yeah, a lot of newcomers. I love to help out and just joke around with other guys who love football. My team also needs a little help itself once in a while.

Any particular poster that you respect the most?
I think it’s gotta be one of the top dogs, Matt or Sock. Clayn8 has also been pretty cool, along with the other guys in the Guberleague. They all have such great insight and some will talk NBA with me too.

Great. Last question. Still going to be with us at 2000 posts?
Oh definitely. I love this place and I’ll probably be here chattin’ away during the offseason. I just wanna give props again to the guys who run this place. It’s a privelidge to be here.

Thanks again for being such an active poster on the message boards! And congratulations on becoming a Whale Shark!!
