Whale Shark Interview – HurricaneNamedDitka

Congrats HurricaneNamedDitka on becoming a Whale Shark and more(1000 messages) on the Message Boards!!

So tell us a bit about yourself. Where are you from? How old are you, etc. What’s a typical day for you like?

Ahhhhh…lets see…I’m from Rock Island, IL…no that’s nowhere near Chicago. It’s northwestern Illinois on the Mississippi River. I went away to college in 2000 and returned in 2003 to reside there with my wife. I have no idea what would of driven me back to this place considering I had a whole country to choose from. I always loved going to my father’s home town on vacations in Buffalo, NY and enjoyed driving around with him as he pointed out the fun stuff he used to do here or there. I enjoyed it because I could tell he enjoyed it. So I know for that reason alone I can only live here until I have children. I’d rather visit where I grew up everyonce in a while…not live there…what the frikk am I talking about? I’m sure most most have moved on to Vinnie’s Picks and Passes by now.

I am 24 years old. I’ve been married for a year and a half. I am currently a estimator/salesman/project manager for a door and hardware distributor/supplier. It’s commercial construction related so needless to say I deal with morons who have no idea what they are doing (contractors) or morons who think they know what they are doing (architects). It’s very trying and doesn’t really work towards what I really wanted to do which was to in some way help people. I don’t think I’ll stay in this field forever regardless of how profitable the industry is.

Most of my weekdays consist of me stumbling out of bed at 7 and am at work by 8. For roughly a half of an hour, I walk around like a zombie, fumble around at my desk, and accidentally hang up on customers. I usually am at my desk pricing, ordering, imagining how I’m going to murder the next person that tells me they can get what I’m selling them for 1/2 the price at Lowes for the rest of the day.

So how long have you been participating in Fantasy Football?

5 years. I started with one league. It’s the league that I still head up to this day. Me and a bunch of dormmates decided that we should try it. With all of us graduated and scattered abroad, this is nice for us to keep in touch. I usually play a few public leagues and get in on a few others of people I’m aquainted with.

And how many Leagues are you involved in?

At my wife’s request I’ve narrowed it down to 4. I find it easier to manage and I don’t spend 4 hours looking at rosters every day. I love me some fantasy football, but I’ve got better things to do than stare at a lineup that gets me a whopping pat on the back for winning (a pat that comes from myself even).

How do does your team compare from the draft to now?

In the one that really matters to me, it’s pretty much the same. I’ve added Dallas Clark (because of Heap) and Michael Pittman and I also dropped ATL for CHI’s defense.

Who are the flops/busts and shocker picks on your team (s)? Any great wire pick ups?

Bennett in the 3rd was definetly my worst pick. Clark is filling in nicely and I hope to have Heap back before my playoffs making picking him up in the 5th still worth it, but he’s still ticks me off. I drafted both Givens and Lelie real late as a run on WR’s really left me high and dry.

As for WW pickups, Pittman was my best I got him 2 weeks before he came back and have used him only sparingly, but it’s nice to know he’s there.

Turkey Day Favorites:
White meat or dark meat?

Oh man i usually eat one leg and about 3 or 4 lbs of dark meat every thanksgiving..screw that white crap…

Sweet potatoes or Mashed?

both…lots of both…i absoluly destroy them…

Pumpkin pie – whipped cream or plain?

To tell you the truth, I absolutly despise any pie that isn’t named french silk. I’ve never been able to eat them. If I was near death I might eat pumpkin pie for sustanence but thats about it. I’m not huge on mixing textures. I’m actually a cake guy. Cake is about 75% the reason I’m married today.

Indy or Detroit?

Indianapolis’ offense is just becoming too much to handle. Edge is too much of a threat on the ground to soley look pass, and PM (thats what he likes his buddies to call him) is just stupid good. Their defense is also actually starting to resemble one. Detroit doesnt’ seem to have that spark they did at the beginning of the season. I see this game getting away from them early in the 2nd quarter. IND over DET 38 – 17

Dallas or Chicago?

Could we be cursed with a more horrible matchup than this on turkey day?? Thankfully the triptophan will have kicked in and I won’t have to witness this terrible display that i won’t describe as “football”. Chicago’s defense got it handed to them on Sunday with out Urlacher and their offense is…as i’ve said before, slap a helmet on a mop and it would be the mvp of that offense. As for Dallas, Parcells put too much stock into old worn down horses. Now the genius I once thought he was looks like a cork-on-the-fork retard. They are a bad football team and we’ll get to see the future of that team in Henson and Jones this Thursday. For some reason though i see a Chicago victory on Thursday. Their D will play good enough to keep them in the game. CHI over DAL 13-10

Holiday shopping before 8am on Friday?

Nope, everyone else will. I’ll be sleeping until 11 and will be watching tv and eating leftovers until the weeeee hours of the night.

How often do you log on to FantasySharks.com?

It used to be all the time. While at work, I check it out periodically and throw my 2 cents in from time to time. On Saturday I’ll get on and do a whole page of WDIS and the Trade forum. But it’s about 3 times a day and only for 15 to 20 minutes. Maybe an hour a day. I’m sure my wife has the correct time documented somewhere.

ON A SIDE NOTE : Does anyone notice that on the EA Sports Bio it tells you how long you’ve been playing EA games? In days, hours, minutes….what a horrible thing they’ve done. My wife almost threw out the ps2 when she saw that over the course of our short marriage i’ve spent 14 days, 17 hours, and 52 minutes playing madden, mvp, and live. Dirty Punks.

Since your such an avid fan, are there any other Sharks on the message boards that you respect the most?

There are too many awesome people on this board that it would be too hard to list them. Many bring it hard every day and truly know what they are talking about. In other forums where there is a huge influx of new people, it usually chases away the older more established members, but it’s been the complete opposite here.

Anything else you would like to say to all your fans out there?

when da pimps in da crib ma, drop it like its hot, drop it like its hot.
