Whale Shark Interview – Tuna

Congrats Tuna on becoming another of our our Whale Sharks, 1000 posts on the Msg Boards!!
Thank you. This is a great site. You can always come in and get great advice from everyone.

So, tell us a little about yourself.
I’m 32 years old. Have been living on the Gulf Coast for about 6 years now. Orignally from the East Tenn area. I’m married and have two kids, a girl that is 11 and a boy who is 8.

So, I must admit…your interests, “Sports, Beer, Fishing”. I mean..dude..ya the man!
Yeah I love sports and beer that is always a good thing. I love to fish in my spare time when I’m not spending time with the kids.

And what about Tuna..why Tuna?
The name of my team in my fantasy league is Tuna’s Warriors. Also I’am a long time Cowboys fan. Gotta believe in Parcells man, look what he is doing to them boys.

So, if you live in Pensacola, Florida ,your NFL allegiance could have gone a couple of different ways…but the Cowboys got it.
I have always been a Cowboys fan. But if I had to pull for anyone other than the Boys it would probally have to be the Titans. I also like the Broncos. I loved to watch Elway play, he was unreal.

And your thoughts on Dallas’ season so far?
Well the Cowboys are a surprise this year even to loyal fans. I certainly didn’t expect them to make the playoffs. I do think the Tuna will have them back to the big dance hopefully here in the near future. I don’t think it will be this year though.

Well who’s you favorite NFL Player, past and present then?
My favorite NFL player, Hmmm. Hard question. Present player I would have to go with Bret Farve. I just think he is one of the last old school QB’s left and is one heck of a player. Past player is a toss up between Elway and probally Dorsett. Tony that is. I thought this guy was unbeliveable, if he didn’t get injured and forced to leave the game early we would probally be talking about him being the leading rusher of all time instead of Emmitt.

How about a Super Bowl prediction from you.
In the NFC I think it is going to be hard for anyone to beat the Rams. If they can keep the defense intensity up and if Bulger doesn’t fold under pressure. In the AFC the Pats are looking pretty good. This team is probally the most well balanced team in the league. But look out for them Titans. If McNair is healthy they are always dangerous.

So how long have you been participating in Fantasy Football?
First year in a money league. I ended up in third place overall. Which is pretty good considering no one gave me a chance.

And how many leagues are you involved in?
Just one money league. I don’t think Yahoo leagues should count.

And the Team Name(s). Any meaning behind them?
Tuna’s Warriors. We all know the meaning behind this. It’s gotta be the Tuna man.

So, tell us about your FFL year.
Made the playoffs. Ended up losing in the divsional championship. I did manage to put the highest scoring team in the league out in the first week. He still thinks he had the best team in the league. I really should have made it to the Super Bowl. I just didn’t start the right players. Bruce killed me.

So ,what about your best and worst pick of the year?
My best pick would have to be Dom Davis off of waivers in week 3. I don’t think anyone saw that one coming. The worst pick would have to be Gary. I drafted this guy like in the eieght round.

Great. Let’s talk about FantasySharks.com a bit. So, how did you come to find us?
I found the Sharks off of a link in our league. I’m glad I did. My league isn’t very active on the message board. I think that is half of FF, what fun is it if you can’t talk smack? I love the Sharks, you can talk about football until you get tired of typing.

How about your favorite FantasySharks feature or article?
There is too many to pick from. I do like the lineup coach it gives you an idea of what the experts are thinking.

So it seems that there’s a big push for playoff answers in the msg boards lately.
Crunch time baby. Teams have come along way through a long season. No one wants to screw it up so close to the Super Bowl.

Is there anyone you want to point out that you respect the most?
There are a couple of guys that really give good advice. I wont mention any names because that would be unfair to everone else. But I think we all know who they are.

Great. Last question. Still going to be with us at 2000 posts?
I think so. Christmas was so hectic this year. I have been running around trying to get ready for the holidays. I really didn’t have anytime to post a whole lot during this time. I hope to be able to post a little more even during the offseason. But I have to say I think you have a friend for life. I just want to say thanks to everyone for the help you have given me this year. And thank you guys for having such a site to be able to discuss FF like we do here on The Sharks.

Thanks again for being such an active poster on the message boards! And congratulations on becoming a Whale Shark!!
